BN Shanthamma, a 78-year-old, worked as a school
teacher at the Government Model Primary School in Gavipuram in Bangalore when
Rajini studied for for three consecutive years (Class 5th, 6th and 7th) here.
The actor came to know about the hardships his teacher has been facing due to
lack of sufficient money. He immediately spoke to Shanthamma over phone and
said he will be coming to her home when ever he visits Bangalore. However, he
hasn't given any hint of his intention to help the elderly woman.
On Saturday, Shanthamma was informed that Rs 3 lakhs has been deposited to her
bank account by Rajinikanth. She is thankful to her student who offered
financial help when it matters the most. "Shivaji Rao was poor. He is a
very intelligent student. Despite reaching greater heights, he hasn't changed a
bit," she commented.
